How we vet a syndication network before a single asset goes out

A syndication network's subscriber count is the first number it advertises and one of the least reliable ones to trust at face value. A network claiming a large audience says nothing about whether that audience is real, engaged, or anywhere near your target buyer, and paying for reach against an unverified audience is a fast way to generate downloads that never turn into a real conversation.
Before we place a client's content on a new network, we look at engagement quality on past placements, not just delivered volume: how many downloads led to any further engagement, how many contacts were reachable and legitimate when checked against verified data. A network that delivers high volume but low reachability is often padding its numbers with stale or low-quality records, the same problem we address in our own database through continuous verification, and it shows up just as clearly on a syndication partner's list.
We also look at content fit, not just audience size. A network built around IT infrastructure content is the wrong home for a piece aimed at marketing operations leaders, even if the network reports a technically large subscriber base, because relevance to the topic matters more than raw reach when the goal is a lead sales actually wants to follow up on.
New networks get tested with a smaller placement first, tracked closely against the same engagement benchmarks as established partners, before any client's full syndication budget goes toward them. A network that looks promising on paper but underperforms on a test placement gets cut before it absorbs a meaningful share of spend, not after.
This vetting step happens before content strategy or form design ever enters the conversation, because no amount of smart placement thinking or well-designed forms fixes a network delivering the wrong audience in the first place. It is part of the same placement discipline that keeps syndicated leads landing on people worth calling, contributing to programs that keep pipelines fed toward 23,000+ leads a month.
