One brief, five formats: getting more mileage out of every piece we write

Most of the cost in B2B content creation is in the research and the argument, not in the writing itself, which means the most inefficient thing a content team can do is build all of that once and use it for a single asset. A single well-researched brief, done properly, can become a blog post, a LinkedIn post, an email nurture touch, and talking points for a webinar, without repeating the research effort each time.

This only works if repurposing is planned before the first draft, not improvised after a piece is already published. We decide at the brief stage which formats a piece of research is going to become, so the original long-form draft is written with those downstream versions in mind, structured around distinct, extractable points rather than one continuous argument that resists being broken apart later.

Each format still needs its own craft, not a copy-paste reduction of the long-form piece. A LinkedIn post built from a blog post's core argument reads like a native LinkedIn post, written for how people scroll and engage on that platform, not like a shortened blog excerpt with the formatting stripped out. The research travels across formats; the execution does not.

What has to stay constant is the core claim. A case study's central argument should sound the same whether a reader encounters it in a full write-up, a two-line social post, or a single slide in a webinar deck, because a prospect who sees the same argument reinforced across three channels trusts it more than one who sees three different, weaker versions of the same idea.

Done this way, one research effort produces a week's worth of content across formats instead of a single asset that gets used once and shelved, which is a large part of why our content creation work stays efficient at scale without sacrificing the specificity that makes any individual piece worth reading in the first place.
